PLOT09: Exploring the World of Governors Island

Ferry to Governors Island
"At the Same Moment" installation by Lawrence Weiner
Krzysztof Wodiczko created a video installation with images of flame flickering with the voices of soldiers speaking of their experience in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Anthony McCall's "Between You and I" consist of 2 cones of light shining down from the ceiling made visible by mist.
Artist Klaus Weber's "Large Dark Wind Chime" is tuned to the tritone and sounds off archaic and somber, said to call out the evil spirits.

Last Saturday, I was able to catch the first edition of PLOT, the world & Nearer Ones, curated by Mark Beasley(Creative Time). The artwork activated buildings and historical landmarks usually closed to the public. PLOT09 features artists from 9 different countries, including Edgar Arceneaux, AA Bronson and Peter Hobbs, The Bruce High Quality Foundation, Adam Chodzko, Tue Greenfort, Jill Magid, Teresa Margolles, Anthony McCall, Nils Norman, Susan Philipsz, Patti Smith and Jesse Smith, Tercerunquinto, Tris Vonna-Mitchell, Mark Qallinger, Klaus Weber, Lawrence Weiner, Judi Weerthein, Guido Van Der Werve, and Krzysztof Wodiczko.

Unfortunately, the show will be closing this upcoming Saturday, so if you are looking to get out of the city for the afternoon or for the day in the next few days, definitely worth the trip. Catch the Governors Island Ferry off of South Ferry which is the tip of Manhattan for a free 5 min ride. WHAT A DEAL!
